November 1, 2014 following three years of preparation, Grove City Medical Center (GCMC) achieved level 4 trauma accreditation. GCMC is the second hospital in the Commonwealth to achieve this status, and the only one in the western region of the state.

“This is a great day for Grove City Medical Center,” said Chief Executive Officer Robert C. Jackson. “With this designation, we have joined an elite group of Pennsylvania hospitals that can call themselves trauma centers.” GCMC’s trauma team is led by Dr. Matt Glenn, Trauma Program Medical Director and Cheryl Pebbles, Trauma Program Coordinator.

Level 4 trauma centers provide enhanced care to injured patients within the emergency department in rural areas of the state and focus on stabilization and coordination of care with a higher-level trauma center. Grove City Medical Center’s new designation brings the total number of trauma centers in Pennsylvania to 33 and enhances care of injured patients in Pennsylvania’s rural regions.

The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation announced GCMC’s accreditation status in a press release dated September 23, 2014.
