Our tagline, A Passion for Better Medicine, tells our story – a health network that encourages those who strive to improve, celebrates success but quickly anticipates the next goal, and believes in the power of teamwork to make a difference for you. We are a Magnet Designated Hospital x3 and noted as Fortune Magazine Top 100 Places to Work 2008 – 2011. Our staff is greater than 11,000 in number including our medical staff and nurses making up over 3500.
A formal Trauma Program has been in existence at the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) since July of 1978. In 1981, LVHN became the first trauma center to be designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and has consistently maintained re-accreditation since 1981 as Regional Level I Adult Trauma Center. We are currently an accredited Level 2 Pediatric Trauma center as well as an ABA/ACS Verified Regional Burn Center. LVHN services a generally rural and suburban catchment area of approximately 4500 square miles with a population base approaching 2.6 million people. Our Mission as a Regional Trauma Center is to provide superior trauma and burn services to patients of all ages and their families, focusing on preventive, acute and continuing care. This mission will be accomplished by integrating clinical excellence, advocacy, research, and education into our care delivery model.
