Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia (EMCP), accredited as a Level 1 Trauma Center since 1987, is located 4 miles north of Center City Philadelphia in a primarily residential, densely populated area with broad ethnic, racial and cultural diversity. EMCP is a private, not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1866 as the Jewish Hospital, a center of healing, caring, and learning. EMCP is the flagship of the Einstein Healthcare Network, which also includes Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, the newly opened Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Moss Rehabilitation Hospital (a leading national rehabilitation provider), Willowcrest-Bamberger (a skilled nursing facility), and Belmont Psychiatric Institute. The Mission of the Trauma Program at the EMCP is to deliver trauma care to seriously injured patients in a progressive, compassionate, and effective manner.

This responsibility extends to the community, city, and state. Our Vision is to serve our patients, their families, and the community by:

  • Reducing pain and disability
  • Promoting healing and enhanced recovery
  • Minimizing stress to patients and families
  • Minimizing risk of death from a traumatic injury
  • Educating the public about injury prevention and health promotion
  • Educating medical students, residents, physicians, and other clinicians
  • Actively participating in trauma related research
