Penn Highlands DuBois is an accredited Level II Trauma Center located in rural Northwestern Pennsylvania. The hospital is a 228-bed regional referral center for Penn Highlands Healthcare, which is a nine-hospital healthcare system established in 2011. Penn Highlands Healthcare serves 26 counties in Northwestern/Central and Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The Penn Highlands DuBois Trauma Center is staffed around the clock with an in-house team of board-certified trauma surgeons and advanced practice professionals. Many of the trauma surgeons are also fellowship trained in surgical critical care. The Penn Highlands DuBois Trauma Team utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to the care of the injured patient and is supported by many other board-certified, experienced providers in the fields of Emergency Medicine, Trauma Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, In-Patient Rehabilitation Medicine, and other specialties.
The Penn Highlands DuBois Trauma Program’s credo of “Saving One Life Touches Many Lives” indicates that the approach to caring for the patient as a whole also extends to providing care and assistance to the families of our injured patients. Through an extensive network of post-acute care facilities and an integrated care management program, Penn Highlands DuBois is able to seamlessly transition patients from the acute-care hospital setting to the most appropriate post-discharge destination. This integrated approach to the care of the injured patient relieves families of much of the burden and worry of caring for their injured loved ones after discharge.
The Mission of Penn Highlands Healthcare to provide every patient with exceptional care through a community based healthcare system while maintaining a reverence for life is reflected in its goal to provide the safest, highest quality care to the injured patient, and by a commitment to recruit the most experienced team of providers, nurses, and other professionals, as well as through the dedication of extensive resources to the Trauma Program. These resources include a new technologically advanced Emergency Department with four dedicated trauma bays, a new 20 bed Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit, a new state of the art Interventional Radiology Suite, and a new Outpatient Center of Excellence Facility.
