Media Notification of Trauma Center Accreditation Status

The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation disseminates a statewide press release of all accredited Level I and II trauma centers annually on October 1 and all Level III trauma centers annually on November 1.

In the event a new trauma center is accredited, a press release is done prior to the deadlines established for previously accredited trauma centers in collaboration with the hospital.  This is to assure EMS providers are aware of the new trauma center and are educated accordingly to assure appropriate triage to the closest trauma center meeting criteria based on the patient’s injuries.  

It is vital that accreditation communications come directly from the PTSF first.  The Foundation suggests that new trauma centers have all hospital media notifications be reviewed by the Foundation for accuracy prior to publication.
